Celebrate National Lemonade Day

August 20 may sound like just another day in a somewhat uneventful month, but for those who appreciate a good old fashioned glass of summertime, it holds a much more significant place. National Lemonade Day is celebrated each year on August 20 and it gives people a chance to take a break from their busy life, and remember sometimes the simplest things are the best things to celebrate. Remember, just because it isn’t a major holiday doesn’t mean you can’t take the time to let off some steam.

Support Local Lemonade Stands

Naturally, one of the best ways to celebrate this day is to find a local stand and get yourself a drink. This not only helps to spread the spirit of the holiday, but you will often find the deliciously sweet and tart drink tastes better than something you find in the store. These stands are an excellent way to teach children the entrepreneurial mindset, so if you have children of your own, you might set aside some time to help them set one up. If you’re not one for traditional lemonade, consider making it with strawberries, watermelon, or some other fruity variation.

Enjoy An Adult Lemonade

Naturally, those who appreciate a stiff drink will wonder how they can turn this holiday into an occasion to enjoy a nice adult beverage. Fortunately, there are many options other than just grabbing a Mike’s Hard Lemonade, which, let’s face it, just doesn’t cut it. Instead, you can consider a few different potential drink recipes, such as:

1. Moscato Pink Lemonade

1 part moscato, 1 part lemonade, and 1 part squirt soda; this tasty pink lemonade gives you just the right amount of alcohol. Garnish with a lemon, some raspberries, pour over ice, and top the glass with some sugar.

2. Spiked Blackberry Lemonade

Combining sugar, water, lemon juice, vodka, and some blackberries, this adult lemonade packs a bit more kick, but stays true to the sugary goodness you are looking for on this day.

3. Blueberry Vodka Lemonade

Blueberry lemonade is delicious, but blueberry lemonade with vodka is even better. This recipe also uses fresh mint to add something special to the flavor, giving you a strong, but tasty way to enjoy lemonade.

4. Just Add the Liquor of Your Choice

For those who prefer something simple, this idea can make your lemony goodness just right. Rather than following a special recipe, simply get yourself a drink from one of your local stands and add in the liquor of your choice. A word of warning…wait until you get home to add your liquor. Whipping out a flask at a kids stand may not go over the way you would hope. Typically, you will find a clear liquor like tequila, vodka, or gin work best in lemonade, but if you are feeling adventurous you can always try something else.

Relax With Your Lemonade

Regardless of whether you mix yourself up a nice adult concoction or just have some traditional lemonade, this is a day you shouldn’t miss. Make sure to take the opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy a delicious glass of lemonade.
