Best Floats from the Rose Bowl Parade 2016

For more than a century now, every New Year’s day has marked more than just a new beginning for the people of Pasadena, California, it also marks the annual Rose Bowl Parade. At 8:00 A.M. Pacific time this year, the parade took place bringing in the New Year with plenty of beautiful floats and attractions that kept people from all around the United States enthralled. In case you didn’t get to watch it live, here is a recap of some of the favorite floats from this year.

Marco Polo Easy Meets West

Crafted by the Singpoli Group, this float took no shortage of man hours and materials to be made. It had the honor of winning the Sweepstakes Trophy. This trophy was awarded for the “most beautiful entry in parade with outstanding floral presentation and design.” On its own, it is easy to see how it would be awarded such a distinction.

Sweet Shenanigans

Winner of the Lathrop K. Leishman Trophy, this delicious-looking float is sure to make some question their New Year’s resolution to avoid those sweets. It was made by Cal Poly Universities and was awarded this distinction for “most beautiful non-commercial float.”

Helping Mother Nature Thrive

Built by Kaiser Permanente as a reminder that humans play a role in the environment they live in, this float is certainly impressive to look at. Due to its “excellence in creative concept and design,” it was awarded the Grand Marshal’s Trophy in the parade.

Diamond Celebration

It makes sense the Disneyland Resort would have the time and money to create something this elaborate, so they certainly deserve some recognition for their float. Awarded the Extraordinaire Trophy for having the “most spectacular float (including floats that do not retract to 55′)” they easily took the cake.
