It’s that time of year again. The air is starting to cool, pumpkin patches are popping up, and unless you live in the horrible land of Florida, the leaves are starting to change. While fall can be a magical time of year, the real fun for many comes from the great holiday called Halloween. If you want to really stand out this year, here are some 2016 Halloween costume trends to consider.

The Pokemon Trainer

Pokemon GO may be dropping in its popularity, but it was still a huge pop culture phenomena. Of course, when your app is as big as GO was, “dropping in popularity” is also a relative term. The truth is, it is still quite huge and with Pokemon Sun and Moon coming out in November, this year is the perfect occasion to pop out your Pokemon trainer costume. This design by Hewtab cosplay is actually based on Pokemon GO, but you might just pick your favorite video game character and do that instead.

Marvel Super Heroes

Since Iron Man’s release in 2008, dressing up as a Marvel super hero has been a safe bet during Halloween. With the release of “Captain America: Civil War,” there are more Halloween costume trends than ever in this universe. Now you have dozens of different heroes you can choose from and everyone will know exactly what you are going for. Not to mention, the overwhelming success of “Deadpool” now gives all of those con-goers an excuse to use their outfit one more time. In other words, being a nerd this year can really come in handy.

How About Some DC Love?

While Marvel may be more popular when it comes to movies, DC had some big title releases this year as well. Sure, “Batman V. Superman” was torn apart by critics. Actually, Suicide Squad was too. Despite this, those diehard DC fans are sure to jump onto this trend. Dress up as your favorite character this Halloween, because even if they didn’t like the movies, at least they saw them.

Celebrity Halloween Costume Trends

Of course, another option if you like watching TMZ or subscribe to pop culture magazines is to make an outfit around your favorite celebrities. The recent news of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce could be the perfect excuse to dress up as either. Or, maybe you want to make a creative costume around this trend and do a couple Halloween costume that somehow symbolizes the end of their relationship. Whatever you have in mind, there are plenty of options.

Stranger Things

When it comes to pop culture phenomena, another one you might consider is the Netflix original, “Stranger Things.” Since the show was already spooky enough, why not dress up as characters from this show? Perhaps you could even get creative and make your own demi-gorgon costume. Whatever the case might be, this show offers you a plethora of choices.
