Last year, Playboy announced they would no longer feature nude photographs of models. The last issue that will have naked pictures in it will be the January/February 2016 edition. No better way for the magazine to end their reign as the nudie magazine king than with one of the biggest Playboy stars ever, Pamela Anderson.
In the special double issue of the magazine, Anderson is on the cover and in a 12-page pictorial. This spread will be the Playboy star’s 14th cover and 15th pictorial. The article is actually written by fellow actor and frequent Playboy contributor, James Franco. In the interview, Anderson reflects on everything from her very first shoot to how she lives her life.
Anderson is the last of a long list of Playboy stars who have posed nude for the magazine over its more than 50 years of publication. Let’s take a look at some of the famous women who have graced the magazine’s pages.
Kelly Monaco posed for Playboy in the spring of 1997. After sending her photo to the publication in 1996, she was on the cover a year later. Following her stint as the Playmate of the Month, she had roles on “Baywatch” and “General Hospital,” a show which she still stars on today.
Carmen Electra was featured in “Playboy” four times. The first was in 1997 and the final time was for an anniversary issue published in 2009. She is best known for dancing with the Pussycat Dolls and for her role on “Baywatch.” Most recently, she has made appearances in B-list comedies such as the “2-Headed Shark Attack.”
Jenny McCarthy began her career in entertainment in 1993 as a model for “Playboy.” Later, she would be named Playmate of the Year. The Playboy star went on to host the popular MTV show, “Singled Out” and also had roles in both movies and television shows. She is best known today as an activist and spokesperson for alternative treatments for autism, a disorder that her son has.
Pamela Anderson’s first “Playboy” cover was in 1989. The next year, she was named Playmate of the Month. She is best known for her role as C.J. Parker on “Baywatch” and her marriage to Tommy Lee of the band Mötley Crüe. Today, she is one of PETA’s most famous spokespeople.
Holly Madison was never officially a Playboy Playmate, but she has been on the cover of the magazine before. Her time on the cover was usually to promote what she is best known for, the reality show, “The Girls Next Door”, where her relationship with Hugh Hefner was on display. Just last year, her memoir, “Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny,” was released.
