6 Secrets Your Gynecologist Won’t Tell You

If you haven’t been to your gynecologist in the last six months, it’s time for a trip. You want your body to remain healthy, don’t you? As awkward as gynecologist visits can be, they’re incredibly important, especially if you’re sexually active. In order to make your next visit run smoothly, here are some secrets your gynecologist won’t tell you.

They Don’t Want Your Parents Around

It doesn’t matter how young or old you are, because your mother shouldn’t be around when your gynecologist is. The only way your gyno can treat you properly is by knowing the truth about your sex life, and a lot of young women won’t be completely honest when their parent is around. Tell your mom to sit in the waiting room, so you’ll feel comfortable admitting private things to your gyno, such as if you smoke and drink, and how many sexual partners you’ve had.

They Can Tell That You’re Constipated

You’re probably better off not knowing this, but your gyno can actually tell whether or not you’re constipated by looking at the walls of your vagina. Don’t worry though, because they couldn’t care less about your bathroom habits. They weren’t trained for that.

People Lose Items In There

Your vagina is capable of holding onto items for way longer than it should. There are plenty of gynecologists who have seen woman with tampons, condoms, and sponges stuck inside of them. It’s not as rare as you’d think, so if you’re one of the unlucky ladies who can’t get something out of their vagina, don’t be too embarrassed about the ordeal.

They Don’t Care if You Shave

You don’t have to prepare for your gynecologist visit the same way you’d prepare for a date. Even though she/he is going to be looking at you down there doesn’t mean you need to shave off all of your hair. As long as it’s not dirty, she won’t mind things getting a little hairy.

They Want You to Be Honest About Your Number

Your gynecologist isn’t around to judge you. They are there to help you. That’s why you need to be completely honest with them about how many people you’ve slept with. They won’t think you’re a prude if you’re a virgin and they won’t think you’re a slut if your number reaches the double digits. If you’ve slept with other women, tell them, too. They’re not going to be homophobic.

They Know What’s Ruining Your Sex Life

If you’ve been having a rough time in the bedroom, make sure to mention it to your doctor. They might be able to tell you what the problem is, because it’s easy for them to spot things, such as vaginal dryness. They might be able to tell if you have an STD as well, but you need to ask.

Keeping your netherlands in good functioning order is important. Take time to visit the one person who can help ensure you have happy, healthy girl-bits; your gynecologist.
