The debate on the existence of extraterrestrials has been a constant in modern society, and it’s only grown with the media and the many advances in modern technology. People have opened their minds to the possibility of other life out in the universe, and with the possibility of other life comes the expected conspiracy theories. Below are five popular alien conspiracy theories in the US.

Roswell

One of the most well-known events in American history related to extraterrestrials, Roswell is a popular theory when examining alien conspiracies. In 1947, in New Mexico, the Roswell Air Force Base issued a press release that they had found a mysterious metal disc on a ranch in the area. The press was interested; shortly after, the story changed that they had found the remnants of a weather balloon. Since 1946 various stories, anecdotes, and personal accounts have come out that claim there were multiple crash sites, a massive cover-up, an alien autopsy, and that spaceship remnants and alien specimens are still being held by the US military in a secret base somewhere. Area 51

Believed to be the secret military base housing what’s left of the Roswell incident, Area 51 is an actual military base in Nevada that is a remote detachment of Edwards Air Force Base. Alleged to be the center of elaborate underground tunnels and labs, the base is said to stand as a home for research programs dedicated to reverse-engineering alien technology, developing energy weapons and ways to control the weather, and developing technology to aid humans in time travel and teleportation. Supposed past employees attest to working with aliens and human-alien hybrids in an effort to clone alien viruses and work on telepathic translators. Project Blue Book

Project Blue Book was an endeavor by the US government to catalog and examine every instance of alien contact, visitation, and spacecraft reports in 1952. The project had two goals: to determine if UFOs were a threat to national security and scientifically analyze UFO-related data. By the time the project ended in January 1970, the government had collected 12,618 UFO reports, the majority of which they wrote off as natural phenomena or conventional aircraft. Many conspiracy theorists believe the findings of Project Blue Book and the information gained at Roswell led the government to create a group called the Majestic 12, a secret committee of scientists, military leaders, and government officials looking to recover and investigate alien spacecraft. The Reptilians

Supposedly, the Reptilians are a race of malevolent aliens that have been visiting Earth for thousands of years. They feed off of fear and negative emotions, and they are dedicated to fostering worldwide panic and pain in every country on the planet to feed their insatiable hunger. Some theories hypothesize that Reptilians have infiltrated the media, governments, and high-ranking political leaders; thus, manipulating human history for their own gain. Another theory is that Reptilians are actually what Christians refer to as demons and what Satanists actually worship. Famous people purported to be a Reptilian: George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Angelina Jolie, Anderson Cooper, Nikola Tesla, and many more. When mentioning Reptilians, you can’t leave out David Icke, a British author famous in his own right for producing books, lectures, interviews and more on our supposed matrix world, the Reptilians, and their interest in infiltrating all aspects of Earth and humanity. SERPO

SERPO is allegedly a planet orbiting the Zeta-Reticuli star system. It is said that in 1965, after the Roswell incident, 10 men and two women were traded with one alien in an exchange program of sorts. Set to stay 10 years, the humans returned 13 years later in 1978, but with only seven men and one woman. It’s said that two humans died while on the planet from injuries sustained there and four others decided to stay (the math doesn’t even add up with this conspiracy theory). Of the eight humans who returned, all have since died, the last in 2002. SERPO is said to have extreme heat, a population at the time of around 650,000, and an indistinguishable hour, day, and year system. Most of what’s “known” about SERPO was divulged by “Request Anonymous,” a retired employee of the US government. No one seems to know what the true purpose of the exchange was, but it’s been said it was more for the benefit of the US to gain information on alien technologies.
