Naturally beautiful, crystals have been used for centuries as a means to support healing of the spirit. Crystals are not medicine, nor are they prescriptions. Crystals are meant to bring healing on a metaphysical level, helping to heal one’s aura or chakras. They are not meant to replace traditional medicines.

What is a crystal? Kiwi Web states, “Crystals are solids that form by a regular repeated pattern of molecules connecting together.”  Every crystal has a unique makeup, which in turn gives it a different frequency. Crystals resonate at different frequencies, which provide them the ability to tune into our different frequencies. The resonance is what gives crystals their healing qualities. To use the crystal frequencies, you place the crystals on certain parts of the body, such as the chakras, which help to restore, stabilize, and balance the body’s energy system.

Each crystal possesses a specific meaning. Crystals can help you find your inner truth, and while some crystals have traditional meanings and are used for specific applications, others adjust to the environment they’re in and their uses can vary. Here are five crystals recommended for beginners:

Clear Quartz

One of the most abundant and available crystals, clear quartz is an excellent crystal to begin with as it has a high vibration (because it is silica), which is sought-after in energy work. Clear quartz is an excellent option for those looking to open their spiritual bodies to the energy of the universe, and anyone looking to work on the third eye and crown chakras.

Citrine

Citrine is a crystal to use if you’re looking for success. Citrine attracts wealth, but not in the monetary sense. Citrine can help bring wealth into a life through many means, whether by generosity, stewardship, business success, or just general happiness in one’s life. Citrine is also a great crystal for those looking for relationship fulfillment. Citrine should not be used by those with fiery tempers or those that like to spread gossip, as it can make these personality traits worse.

Rose Quartz

A stone of love, rose quartz is an excellent crystal to open the heart chakra. Rose quartz can also be used to calm anxiousness, aid in sleep issues, and it’s just an overall great stone to have in your arsenal to provide faith in one’s self and self love.

Green Aventurine

Considered to be the stone of luck, green aventurine helps bring wealth and prosperity to the owner. This is an excellent stone to have if you’re looking to attract positivity and overall personal growth to your body and life.

Amethyst

Amethyst is used for spiritual protection. It’s an all around crystal, meaning it has many different uses. Amethyst can be used for protection from negative energies, help with anxiety and overactive nerves, and it is also a luck and prosperity crystal. Some utilize the Amethyst’s powers to help with addictions and overindulgences. Amethyst is also another type of quartz.

Most individuals turn to crystals because of a deep interest in an alternative spiritual approach to the human experience. Crystals are meant as a means for spiritual growth and should be used as such. Crystals have been used for thousands of years in both amulets and talismans, and their use originated with the ancient Sumerians, while the Egyptians used crystals for protection. Crystal Age offers a more in depth discussion about the history of the use of crystals in healing. Even if you believe the use of crystals is hocus pocus, one cannot deny the natural beauty crystals possess.

If you’re interested in learning more, the internet is a wealth of knowledge, but you can also visit any metaphysical bookstore, where you can find hundreds of different stones, many of which will be attracted to your energy.

Have you ever used a crystal? Would you be open to using crystals considering science can’t prove their power? What crystals are you attracted to?
